FAO REOSA Network Papers

This December 2009 publication documents best practice and lessons learned from Malawi of livelihood-based social protection programmes for orphans and vulnerable children ( OVC). This is essential knowlege for advocating for the promotion and scale up of programmes. It was published by FAO REOSA in conjuction with the Regional Interagency Task Team on Children and HIV and AIDS (RIATT) in East and Southern Africa.

The publication is a socio-economic analysis of CA in terms of practice, adoption, viability, gender dynamics and scaling up strategies. It highlights the similarities and differences in approaches between three southern African countries where significant CA practice exists, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa, as well as the gaps in knowledge.

The 2011 FAO REOSA publication presents the findings of a study on how CA has been implemented in South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe including results of simulation models of climatic risk and returns to investment in CA under different bio-physical and socio-economic conditions.
