REOSA Technical Briefs

FAO and its partners are promoting Conservation Agriculture as an option for sustainable farming that increases productivity, profits and food security while protecting the environment. The technical brief produced in conjunction with NEPAD and ACT describes the principles of CA- minimum soil disturbance, permanent soil cover and diversified crop associations and rotations- and its benefits.
The second REOSA technical brief with produced NEPAD and ACT, outlines the socio-economic benefits of Conservation Agriculture for the small-holder farmer in southern Africa. They include higher yields and income, reduced input costs and labour requirements.
The REOSA technical brief charts the adoption of Conservation Agriculture in southern Africa and outlines the supports that policy makers, NGO and development partners can provide to institutionalize CA in the region
